Occupational Therapist (2 Roles) – Equipment and Adaptations Partnership
Job Overview
Manchester City Council is seeking two qualified Occupational Therapists to join its Equipment and Adaptations Partnership team on an ongoing locum basis. These roles play a key part in supporting adults and their carers to live independently and safely within their homes through tailored occupational therapy assessment and intervention.
We are recruiting for the following positions:
– Role 1: Moving and Handling Specialist
– Role 2: General Occupational Therapist
Both roles require strong assessment and problem-solving skills, a person-centred approach, and the ability to work collaboratively across health and social care settings to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
Key Responsibilities
– Undertake holistic assessments of adults with physical or functional difficulties to identify and address barriers to independence.
– Develop and implement person-centred intervention and care plans promoting safety, function, and wellbeing.
– Recommend and arrange for appropriate equipment, minor adaptations, and assistive technology to enhance daily living.
– Provide specialist advice and support on moving and handling techniques (Role 1).
– Work closely with multi-agency partners, including health professionals, housing teams, and voluntary organisations.
– Contribute to discharge planning, safeguarding processes, and risk management activities.
– Supervise and mentor students, trainees, and junior staff to support professional development.
– Maintain accurate and comprehensive records in line with legislative and local authority standards.
About You
You’ll be a proactive and compassionate Occupational Therapist with experience in community-based practice, adaptations, and equipment provision. You will have excellent communication and clinical reasoning skills, with the confidence to manage a varied caseload and contribute to a multidisciplinary approach to care.
Requirements
– Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent)
– Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
– Experience working within a community or social care setting (essential)
