Job Overview
We are recruiting a **SEND Paediatric Occupational Therapist** to support children and young people across **Mid and North Essex**, working within the Kent NHS service. This role focuses on delivering high-quality assessments and therapy to children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them to achieve independence and reach their full potential within school and home environments.
You will play an integral role in the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process, supporting schools, families, and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure every child receives the appropriate interventions and resources for their developmental and functional needs.
Key Responsibilities
– Undertake **Section F assessments** and reports for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). – Conduct occupational therapy assessments addressing fine motor, gross motor, and sensory integration needs. – Provide tailored therapy interventions within school and community settings. – Liaise effectively with parents, teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure joined-up care. – Write clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations to support children’s ongoing development. – Support schools and families with advice, resources, and strategies to promote inclusion and participation. – Manage a varied caseload across different schools within Essex, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
About You
You are a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist with a passion for supporting children and young people with SEND. You bring creativity and clinical expertise to your practice, helping children overcome challenges and develop the skills they need to thrive at school and in daily life.
You communicate effectively with families and education staff, maintaining a collaborative and child-centred approach at all times.
Requirements
– Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy. – Current **HCPC registration**. – Proven experience working with **children and young people with SEND**. – **Sensory integration training** or equivalent experience in sensory-based interventions. – Experience delivering therapy in school environments. – Excellent communication and report-writing skills. – Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. – Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload.
Contract & Salary
– **Hours:** 37.5 hours per week (part-time considered). – **Working Pattern:** Monday to Friday. – **Contract Type:** Locum, ongoing assignment. – **Salary:** Negotiable, dependent on experience.
