Devon County Council is committed to delivering high-quality support and protection for children and families across the region. As a Children’s Senior Social Worker, you will take a lead role in managing complex and high-risk cases, supporting vulnerable children, and mentoring less experienced colleagues. Working within a strengths-based and restorative practice framework, you will help drive positive outcomes for children and young people in Devon.

  • Provide professional supervision and support to junior social workers, helping them develop confidence and good practice in line with Devon’s values.

  • Carry out comprehensive assessments under statutory responsibilities (e.g., Section 17 and Section 47 of the Children Act 1989) to inform planning and interventions.

  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including health, education, and police, to deliver coordinated safeguarding and support.
