Lead on the most complex and high-risk cases within Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s Children’s Services, including safeguarding, court work, and permanency planning.

Provide specialist advice, mentoring, and reflective supervision to social workers, supporting the development of best practice and professional growth within the team.

Undertake comprehensive assessments under the Children Act 1989, ensuring child-centred, timely, and evidence-based interventions that promote safety and long-term outcomes.

Prepare and quality-assure reports for legal proceedings, child protection conferences, and statutory reviews, ensuring high standards and compliance with legal frameworks.

Promote effective multi-agency working by leading case discussions, strategy meetings, and safeguarding responses alongside health, education, and police colleagues.

Support service development through contributions to audits, policy reviews, and improvement initiatives aimed at raising practice standards across the children’s service.
