Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (Royal Borough of Greenwich)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join the **Royal Borough of Greenwich Children’s Services team**. This role focuses on working with children, young people, and families to safeguard and promote their wellbeing, ensuring positive outcomes through high-quality social work practice.

As a Qualified Social Worker, you will manage a caseload of children in need, child protection, and looked-after children, working directly with families and alongside partner agencies to deliver safe, effective, and child-centred interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, needs, and strengths.

Develop, implement, and review care and protection plans that put children at the centre.

Manage a caseload that includes child in need, child protection, and looked-after children cases.

Prepare and present evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.

Work directly with children, young people, and families to build positive and trusting relationships.

Collaborate with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations to ensure coordinated support.

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording in line with legislation and Greenwich Council policies.

Participate in reflective supervision, team meetings, and training to support your continuous professional development.

About You

You are a committed and resilient social worker with a passion for working with children and families. You can manage a varied caseload, work collaboratively with partners, and keep children’s safety and wellbeing at the centre of your practice.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Experience within Children’s Services (placements will be matched to your experience level).

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.

Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team.
