Job Title:  Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist – Band 6
Area:  South East London NHS
Salary:  £negotiable

Job details: Speech and Language Therapist required for 12 weeks initially. Primary and secondary mainstream school across Lewisham.

  • Independently assess, diagnose, manage, and evaluate outcome for children primarily between 5 and 18 years of age, presenting with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties, some of which may be highly complex.
  • To contribute to successful child centred, multidisciplinary assessment and intervention.
  • To contribute to the development, testing and delivery of new ways of working.
  • To monitor and review the progress of children on the caseload ensuring there is evidence of sound clinical practice, with due regard to cultural and linguistic differences.
  • To hold and overview of the therapist’s caseload, to monitor demand and capacity, identify areas of risk, emerging needs, and areas for service development, advising line manager accordingly.
  • To support educational setting staff in helping children to access the curriculum/learning opportunities and contribute professional advice to Education and Health Care Needs Assessment/Plans and targets.
  • To ensure that children are referred to other services within and external to the Trusting. Communication Clinic for confirmation of ASC, Audiology.
  • To be accountable for own professional actions and the actions of those working under the therapist’s supervision and guidance and recognise professional boundaries through interpretation of clinical and professional boundaries through interpretation of clinical and professional policies at a national and local level.
  • To be aware of and adhered to Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (LGT) and LGT speech and language therapy protocols.
  • To maintain and provide full, accurate case notes and reports reflecting specialist knowledge, and in accordance with Service/Trust guidelines.
  • To attend and participate in clinical and safeguarding supervision

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday.
