Occupational Therapist – Band 6 (Locum)

 

Location: Chelsea and Westminster Hospital

Area: South West London NHS

Contract: Locum, Ongoing (initial 8 weeks)

 

About the Role

 

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is seeking an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Neuro / Stroke team. This short-term locum role requires an immediate start and involves supporting acute neurological and stroke patients, with a strong focus on discharge planning and early rehabilitation.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Provide specialist occupational therapy intervention to acute neuro and stroke patients.
  • Undertake comprehensive functional assessments and develop personalised rehabilitation plans.
  • Lead and support effective, safe discharge planning within an acute hospital setting.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Apply clinical reasoning to manage a varied caseload autonomously whilst maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Contribute to early mobilisation, cognitive assessment, and equipment/adaptation recommendations as needed.

 

Skills & Experience Required

 

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience in acute care settings.
  • Experience in acute medicine and neurology.
  • Strong discharge planning skills.
  • Ability to work confidently within a fast-paced MDT environment.
  • Excellent communication, assessment and organisational skills.

 

Working Hours

 

  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • Monday to Friday.
