Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00

Job Overview

The Senior Mental Health Practitioner will manage a caseload of individuals with severe and enduring mental health issues within the Integrated Community Mental Health Team (ICMHT). You’ll assess care needs, implement care plans, and coordinate care between primary and secondary services. This is a community-based role requiring expertise in mental health assessments and case management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Caseload Management: Assess, plan, and evaluate care for patients with complex mental health needs.
  • Clinical Leadership: Lead clinical teams, providing advice, education, and support.
  • Crisis Intervention: Address mental health crises and manage relapses.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with GP’s, healthcare professionals, and external agencies for seamless care coordination.
  • Training & Supervision: Offer supervision and training to staff, carers, and the community.
  • Promotion: Advocate for mental health awareness and tackle stigma.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Professional registration (RMN, OT, Social Worker).
  • Post-basic mental health training and CPD.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in community mental health services.
  • Clinical leadership and case coordination.

Skills:

  • Effective caseload and risk management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-working skills.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and mental health legislation.

Other:

  • Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
  • Ability to be based in Cornwall and manage accommodation if required.

  • Accommodation: Option for Trust-provided accommodation at £25 per night.
  • Location: Banham House, Bodmin.
  • Travel: Must be willing to travel across Cornwall for home visits.
