Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist – Wheelchair Services

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist for a locum opportunity within a specialist Wheelchair Service in North London. Based with Ross Care – Barnet, this role requires a clinician with established wheelchair service experience who can quickly integrate into the team and manage a specialist caseload with minimal supervision.

The successful candidate will provide expert assessment, prescription, review, and management of wheelchair and seating solutions for individuals with complex mobility, postural, and functional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a therapist with proven experience in wheelchair services who is able to hit the ground running from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake specialist wheelchair and seating assessments for service users with a range of mobility needs.
  • Assess posture, pressure care, functional ability, and mobility requirements.
  • Prescribe manual and powered wheelchairs in line with assessed clinical needs.
  • Recommend specialist seating systems, postural support, and associated mobility equipment.
  • Review and monitor wheelchair provision to ensure ongoing suitability and effectiveness.
  • Provide advice, education, and training to service users, carers, and support staff.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals, engineers, suppliers, and carers.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and reports in accordance with professional standards.
  • Support the delivery of a high-quality, person-centred wheelchair service.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with a strong background in Wheelchair Services. You will be confident undertaking complex wheelchair assessments and prescribing appropriate mobility and seating solutions independently.

This role requires a clinician who can quickly adapt to an established service, manage a specialist caseload, and deliver high-quality assessments and recommendations from the outset.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Essential experience working within a Wheelchair Service.
  • Experience prescribing manual and powered wheelchairs.
  • Knowledge of seating systems, postural management, and pressure care.
  • Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a specialist caseload.
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team working abilities.
  • Ability to quickly integrate into an established service and work autonomously.
