Occupational Therapist – Band 6

 

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust at St Richard’s Hospital. This locum position involves providing high-quality occupational therapy input to inpatient wards, supporting patients to achieve safe and timely discharge and promoting independence throughout their recovery.  

 

You will be joining a dedicated multidisciplinary team, contributing your expertise to patient-centred rehabilitation and discharge planning within the acute hospital setting.

 

Key Responsibilities

– Provide occupational therapy assessment and treatment to patients on inpatient wards.  

– Complete comprehensive functional assessments, including mobility, ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), and equipment needs.  

– Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment and discharge plans.  

– Promote early and safe discharge by identifying support, adaptations, or community rehabilitation needs.  

– Document all interventions and clinical reasoning clearly in line with NHS and professional standards.  

– Support and guide junior team members and therapy assistants where required.  

– Contribute to service improvement and uphold the Trust’s values of compassionate and evidence-based care.
