Occupational Therapist (Locum)

 

Location: London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

About the Role

 

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is seeking an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to support children and young people within Paediatric Social Care. This is a rewarding locum role focused on enabling children with a range of needs to thrive safely and independently in their home and community environments.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments for children and young people referred through Paediatric Social Care.
  • Identify functional needs and recommend interventions, equipment and adaptations to support independence, safety and participation.
  • Develop individualised, child-centred intervention plans in collaboration with families, carers and other professionals.
  • Work closely with social workers, education settings, health professionals and wider agencies to deliver coordinated support.
  • Contribute to safeguarding practice and ensure the wellbeing of children is prioritised in all interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records in accordance with professional and local authority standards.

 

Requirements

 

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience working within Paediatric Social Care is essential.
  • Strong assessment skills and knowledge of paediatric equipment and adaptation pathways.
  • Excellent communication and multi-agency working abilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a team.
