Occupational Therapist (Locum)

Location: Herefordshire Council – Plough Lane, Hereford

Area: West Midlands Social Services

Rate: £45.00 per hour (umbrella)

Contract: Locum, Ongoing

Role Overview

An experienced Occupational Therapist is required to provide cover for the Independent Living Service (ILS) and to oversee Community Occupational Therapy (locality) functions, including Blue Badge services. This is a senior-level locum role with a strong focus on service improvement, including implementing recommendations following a recent service review.

The post holder will play a key role in supporting the Council’s strategic aims by delivering high-quality occupational therapy services and contributing to projects that positively impact the local community.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide professional cover for the Independent Living Service (ILS).
  • Oversee Community Occupational Therapy locality functions, including Blue Badge services.
  • Lead and contribute to service improvement activity, implementing recommendations from service reviews.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments and engage with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely and to a high standard.
  • Take initiative and work autonomously where required, while contributing effectively within a team.
  • Support the Council’s values through professional, ethical and innovative practice.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
  • Significant experience within Adult Social Care or Community Occupational Therapy services.
  • Experience overseeing services such as Independent Living, Community OT or Blue Badge functions.
  • Proven ability to contribute to service development and improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary environments.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

A highly rewarding opportunity for a senior Occupational Therapist to influence service development and make a meaningful difference within Herefordshire.
