Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum role within Outer Hebrides NHS. This position is based across hospital and community services, with a focus on rheumatology and hand therapy.

The Occupational Therapist will provide predominantly outpatient care, alongside some inpatient and domiciliary visits. The role involves supporting patients with rheumatological, neurological, and hand conditions, helping to improve function, independence, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver occupational therapy assessments and treatments within outpatient, inpatient, and community settings.
• Manage a caseload focused on rheumatology and hand conditions.
• Provide hand therapy interventions, including splinting where appropriate.
• Support patients with neurological and complex conditions.
• Carry out domiciliary visits across the Western Isles as required.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NHS standards.
• Travel to clinics across the region, including the Southern Isles where required.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a background in 
rheumatology, hand therapy, or neurological rehabilitation. You will demonstrate 
strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload independently.

You will be comfortable working across both hospital and community settings and able to adapt your 
practice to meet a range of patient needs.

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Experience working at Band 6 level or above within the NHS.
• Experience in rheumatology and/or hand therapy desirable.
• Experience with splinting and neurological conditions desirable.
• Full UK driving licence (essential) and willingness to travel.
• Valid PVG clearance required.

• Role: Occupational Therapist – Band 6

• Contract Length: Up to 12 weeks initially
• Working Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 08:30 – 16:30; Wednesday: 08:30 – 15:00
