Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Surgical First Assistant to join a leading healthcare facility in Wimbledon, London. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to work flexible shifts in a dynamic surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct assistance to surgeons during procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care.
- Support with instrument handling, tissue retraction, and haemostasis as required.
- Ensure aseptic techniques are maintained throughout procedures.
- Assist in preparing the operating theatre, ensuring all equipment and surgical instruments are correctly set up.
- Monitor patient condition intraoperatively, reporting any concerns to the surgical team.
- Participate in post-operative care, including wound dressing and patient monitoring.
- Work closely with anaesthetists, theatre nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless surgical procedures.
- Adhere to infection control, health & safety, and clinical governance standards.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with valid registration.
- Recognised Surgical First Assistant qualification.
- Experience working in theatres as a Surgical First Assistant.
- Strong understanding of perioperative care and theatre protocols.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
