Middlesbrough Council is seeking an experienced and proactive Locum Qualified Social Worker to join their Child Protection Assessment Team. The successful candidate will carry out statutory assessments and interventions to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and families in crisis or at risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake Section 17 and Section 47 assessments within required timescales.

  • Carry out initial visits and make informed decisions on the appropriate level of intervention and support.

  • Develop and implement Child in Need and Child Protection plans in partnership with families and professionals.

  • Present reports and attend Child Protection Conferences and Legal Planning Meetings.

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to deliver a coordinated safeguarding response.

  • Maintain accurate and timely case records using the council’s electronic case management system.

Requirements: Social Work England (SWE) registration, right to work in the UK, and minimum 2–3 years’ frontline statutory experience, particularly in child protection and assessment work.
