Leicestershire County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people across its communities. As a Children’s Senior Social Worker within the Council, you will play a vital role in managing complex cases, leading on child protection processes, and supporting the development of less experienced colleagues. This role requires strong leadership, sound decision-making, and a child-centered approach in a dynamic and supportive working environment.

  • Lead complex child protection cases, including those involving court proceedings, ensuring that children’s safety and welfare are prioritized at all times.

  • Provide professional supervision and mentorship to junior social workers and support staff, promoting development and reflective practice.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of children and families under statutory frameworks (e.g., Section 17 and Section 47 of the Children Act 1989).

  • Collaborate effectively with multi-agency teams, including health, education, and police, to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding.

  • Develop and implement care plans tailored to each child’s needs, monitoring progress and outcomes to inform decision-making.

  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives by sharing expertise, participating in audits, and supporting policy and practice development.
