Leicestershire County Council is seeking a skilled and experienced Locum Qualified Social Worker to join their specialist team focusing on Achieving Best Evidence (ABE) interviews. This role is vital in ensuring that children and young people who are victims or witnesses of abuse are supported and their evidence is gathered effectively and sensitively in line with legal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ABE interviews with children and young people in accordance with national guidelines

  • Work closely with the police and other safeguarding professionals during joint investigations

  • Contribute to strategy discussions, planning meetings, and legal processes as needed

  • Assess the needs and risks to children and develop appropriate safeguarding plans

  • Maintain accurate, clear, and timely records of interviews and outcomes

  • Ensure all practice complies with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice guidance

Requirements:

  • SWE registration

  • ABE training and recent experience in conducting ABE interviews

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and legal frameworks

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children and multi-agency partners
