Job Overview
We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **Portsmouth City Council’s Adults’ Services team**. In this role, you will support adults with a range of care and support needs, ensuring their safety, promoting independence, and enabling them to live fulfilling lives in the community.
You will carry out statutory assessments, manage complex caseloads, and work closely with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to deliver effective, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments to identify needs, strengths, and risks.
Develop, implement, and review personalised care and support plans.
Lead safeguarding enquiries and ensure robust risk management processes.
Carry out Mental Capacity Act assessments and contribute to best-interest decisions.
Prepare and present evidence-based reports for panels, reviews, and legal proceedings.
Work collaboratively with health services, housing, voluntary organisations, and community partners to deliver joined-up support.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in line with professional standards and council policy.
Contribute to reflective supervision, peer learning, and service development initiatives.
About You
You are a compassionate and resilient social worker with strong skills in safeguarding and case management. You can balance complex caseloads while keeping the focus on high-quality, person-centred outcomes for adults.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Post-qualification experience in Adults’ Services, including safeguarding and complex casework.
Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and adult safeguarding procedures.
Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
Ability to manage workloads effectively while maintaining best practice.
