Senior Social Worker – Children’s Services (Bromley Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced **Senior Social Worker (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **Bromley Council Children’s Services team**. This role is focused on managing complex safeguarding cases, supporting children and families, and mentoring colleagues to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality social work practice.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will provide professional expertise on complex casework, offer guidance to less experienced social workers, and work in partnership with families and multi-agency professionals to achieve positive outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities

Lead on complex child protection and safeguarding cases.

Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, strengths, and needs.

Develop, implement, and review child-focused care and protection plans.

Provide professional mentoring, coaching, and support to junior and newly qualified social workers.

Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.

Work directly with children, young people, and families to build positive, trusting relationships.

Collaborate with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations to deliver coordinated, multi-agency support.

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording in line with legislation and Bromley Council policies.

Contribute to reflective supervision, service audits, and ongoing service development.

About You

You are a confident and resilient social worker with strong post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are skilled at managing complex safeguarding cases, supporting colleagues, and ensuring children’s needs remain central to practice.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Extensive post-qualification experience in Children’s Services.

Proven ability to manage complex safeguarding and child protection cases.

Experience in mentoring, coaching, or supporting less experienced colleagues.

Excellent knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.

Strong assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
