Qualified Social Worker – Adults’ Services (Barnet Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **Barnet Council’s Adults’ Services team**. In this role, you will work with vulnerable adults to promote independence, safeguard wellbeing, and provide person-centred support that improves quality of life.

You will manage a varied caseload, undertake Care Act assessments, and work in partnership with individuals, carers, and other professionals to achieve safe and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments to identify needs, risks, and strengths.

Develop, implement, and review personalised care and support plans.

Manage safeguarding enquiries in line with statutory frameworks.

Carry out Mental Capacity Act assessments and contribute to best-interest decisions.

Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for panels, reviews, and legal proceedings.

Work collaboratively with health services, housing, voluntary organisations, and community partners to deliver integrated support.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records in line with legislation and council policies.

Contribute to reflective supervision, peer learning, and service improvement.

About You

You are a motivated and resilient social worker with experience in adults’ services. You are confident in safeguarding practice, skilled in managing complex cases, and committed to achieving positive, person-centred outcomes.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Experience working within statutory Adults’ Services, including safeguarding and complex casework.

Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and adult safeguarding legislation.

Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage a demanding caseload effectively.
