Job details:  To cover vacancy. Experienced and motivated individual needed to work with children, families and other professionals across several of our pathways including Mainstream Schools, Speech, Complex Needs & Feeding, Out of Area, Pre-school and Social Communication. The post holder will be expected to manage a caseload of clients with a range of identified needs which may or may not include identified/ suspected social communication difficulties, including Autism. They will provide high quality speech and language therapy in close conjunction with families and other professionals working with the same client group such as Paediatrician’s. This role would be suitable for a therapist looking to work as part of a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking team. Main responsibilities: To work autonomously as a Specialist or Highly Specialist SLT within the community team, providing an effective service in Havering for children who have a range of speech, language and communication needs including Autism, Speech Sound disorders, Dysphagia, Complex Needs, DLD and Early Language development needs. This includes clients with/without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). To provide an advanced standard of assessment, clinical diagnosis, treatment and management of communication difficulties in children. To evaluate outcomes of assessments and to provide advice and feedback to parents and other professionals as appropriate. Devise and deliver appropriate highly specialist intervention/care plans/enhanced models of SLT for clients with complex communication needs and provide suitable and timely support. Work as part of the integrated therapies team ensuring the delivery of joined up care plans. To provide specialist training for other professionals within the area of communication development and difficulties. To assist in the development of skills relating to this area to colleagues including SLTs, SLTAs, speech & language therapy students, teaching assistants, SENCos and early years’ staff. To work collaboratively with family/carers and all agencies involved with the child’s care. To support the leadership of the children’s speech and language service in Havering. Working hours: shifts, 09.00 – 17.00. 5 days per week / 37.5 hours.
