Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within West London Social Services. Based with the London Borough of Hounslow, this role focuses on supporting children and young people by delivering specialist Occupational Therapy assessments for equipment provision and housing adaptations.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated Children’s Social Care and Housing service, working closely with families and partner agencies to help children with disabilities achieve greater independence, safety, and improved quality of life within their home environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake specialist Occupational Therapy assessments for children and young people within their home environments.
- Assess functional needs and identify appropriate equipment and housing adaptations.
- Recommend and coordinate the provision of specialist equipment to support independence, safety, and daily living.
- Assess for minor and major adaptations to enable children to access and use their home safely and effectively.
- Work closely with families, carers, housing services, contractors, and multidisciplinary professionals to deliver effective solutions.
- Provide person-centred advice and guidance to families regarding equipment, adaptations, and safe practice.
- Manage a varied caseload while maintaining high standards of clinical practice and professional documentation.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary planning and support positive outcomes for children and young people with disabilities.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant case records in accordance with HCPC and organisational standards.
About You
You will be an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a strong background in Children’s Social Care or community paediatric services. You will have experience assessing children for specialist equipment and housing adaptations and be passionate about helping children maximise their independence within their home environment.
You will possess excellent assessment, communication, and clinical reasoning skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Significant experience working as a Children’s Occupational Therapist.
- Experience assessing children for specialist equipment and housing adaptations.
- Knowledge of paediatric manual handling, equipment provision, and environmental adaptations.
- Experience working within Children’s Social Care, Housing, or community paediatric services.
- Excellent assessment, communication, report-writing, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Ability to manage an independent caseload and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
