Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. Working within the Cambridgeshire NHS Intermediate Care Service, you will support older people and adults requiring short-term rehabilitation and recovery across both community and care home settings.
This role offers the opportunity to work across Pathway 1 (Care at Home) and Pathway 2 (Care Home Beds), delivering high-quality, patient-centred Occupational Therapy interventions that promote independence, prevent unnecessary hospital admissions, and support timely discharge from acute services. You will work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team, providing specialist assessment, rehabilitation, and equipment provision for patients with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention for adults and older people within Intermediate Care services.

- Manage a shared caseload, delivering high-quality Occupational Therapy interventions for patients with complex physical, cognitive, and functional needs.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments using advanced clinical reasoning to develop person-centred treatment plans.
- Identify patient goals and deliver rehabilitation programmes that maximise independence and functional ability.
- Assess and provide appropriate equipment and environmental solutions to support safe discharge and community living.
- Adopt a holistic approach to rehabilitation, working flexibly across professional boundaries where appropriate.
- Ensure patients and carers remain at the centre of decision-making throughout assessment and intervention.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to coordinate care and achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Provide clinical support, education, and supervision to junior staff, Therapy Assistant Practitioners, Integrated Care Workers, students, and non-registered colleagues.
- Delegate work appropriately while remaining accountable for the quality and delivery of delegated tasks.
- Prioritise workload according to clinical need and support other locality teams during periods of operational demand.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.
About You
You will be an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with experience working within Intermediate Care, community rehabilitation, or services supporting older adults. You will be confident managing complex caseloads independently while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
You will possess excellent clinical reasoning, rehabilitation, communication, and organisational skills, together with a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care that supports recovery and promotes independence.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working within Intermediate Care, community rehabilitation, or older adult services.
- Strong assessment and rehabilitation skills for patients with complex physical and functional needs.
- Experience providing equipment recommendations and promoting safe discharge planning.
- Ability to work autonomously within an integrated multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and time management skills.
- Experience supervising or supporting junior staff, assistants, or students is desirable.
- Commitment to delivering evidence-based, person-centred Occupational Therapy.
