Substance Misuse Nurse – Birmingham

Permanent Position
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Are you a passionate and driven nurse looking to make a real difference in people’s lives? We are recruiting for a Substance Misuse Nurse to join a dedicated and supportive team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a hospital-based setting, supporting individuals affected by drugs and alcohol.
The Role:
You will deliver specialist clinical interventions as part of a multi-disciplinary team, helping people to improve their health and wellbeing. Your work will involve assessing physical and mental health, providing harm reduction support, promoting safer practices, and guiding individuals into appropriate healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct health assessments and ensure appropriate referrals
-
Provide BBV screening and Hepatitis B vaccinations
-
Train others in and distribute Naloxone
-
Deliver harm reduction advice and support
-
Keep accurate records in line with clinical governance requirements
-
Contribute to clinical audits and service improvement
About You:
-
NMC registered nurse with recent post-qualification experience
-
Knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion practices
-
Strong communication, assessment, and report writing skills
-
Empathetic and non-judgmental with a focus on person-centred care
-
Experience in substance misuse (desirable but not essential)
