Community Occupational Therapist (2 Roles)
Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting two experienced Community Occupational Therapists for a locum opportunity within North West Social Services. Based with Rochdale Borough Council, these roles sit within the Community Occupational Therapy Team and Moving & Handling Service, supporting adults with physical disabilities, frailty, and complex care needs to remain independent within their own homes and communities.
The successful candidates will undertake assessments, provide specialist occupational therapy interventions, recommend equipment and adaptations, and support moving and handling needs. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive service offering regular supervision and professional development from Advanced Practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload within an Adult Social Care setting.
- Carry out assessments of need for adults and their carers in line with current legislation and local policies.
- Provide advice, guidance, and support to maximise independence and wellbeing.
- Undertake specialist occupational therapy assessments relating to equipment provision, housing adaptations, and moving and handling.
- Recommend and arrange equipment and adaptations to meet assessed needs.
- Contribute to the commissioning of person-centred care and support packages where required.
- Participate in duty work as part of the wider Occupational Therapy team.
- Support adults with physical disabilities, frailty, and complex needs to remain safely within the community.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with professional standards.
- Use resources effectively and ensure services are delivered in a cost-effective manner.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in Community Occupational Therapy and Adult Social Care. You will have excellent knowledge of equipment provision, housing adaptations, and moving and handling practice.
You will be confident working independently, managing a complex caseload, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support individuals in achieving the best possible outcomes.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working within Community Occupational Therapy services.
- Strong knowledge of equipment provision and housing adaptations.
- Proven experience in moving and handling assessments and interventions.
- Experience supporting adults with physical disabilities and frailty.
- Knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation, including the Care Act.
- Understanding of adaptation planning and community-based interventions.
- Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
