Job Title:  Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist – Band 6 

Location: NELFT – Barking and Dagenham - Axe Street, Barking, Essex

Area: North East London    

Salary: £negotiable

Job Type: Locum

Contract length: Ongoing                           

Job details:  Dynamic and motivated individual required to join the team as a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. The post holder will be part of the SALT Team who work across a range of Pathways including Speech, Voice, Dysfluency, Social Communication and Language. This post would be ideal for a Speech and Language Therapist, who would like to work across Social Communication and Language Pathways with School Aged Children. The key components of the post will include:
• To manage a caseload of school age children with a range of communication needs in schools.
• To work collaboratively with children, families, and other professionals to achieve outcomes for individuals, providing support, programmes, ideas, advice and assessment.
• To provide advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication difficulties.
• To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
• To provide a service considering the needs of clients from a range of ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
• To work closely with clients, carers, families, and other professionals to raise awareness, knowledge and skills related to the range of strategies that improve language and communication outcomes at home and in education settings.
• To contribute to both Speech and Language Therapy and multi-disciplinary team working to ensure co-ordinated service provision
• To supervise junior colleagues
• To provide comprehensive formal and informal assessment, and make differential diagnoses based on assessment
• To develop, deliver and train others to deliver evidence-based intervention programmes, adapt and facilitate therapy in response to client needs
• To provide training as necessary.

Working hours: Full time, but would consider part time worker.
