Team Manager – Children’s Services (London Borough of Lambeth)

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Lambeth Children’s Services team**. This role focuses on managing and supporting a team of social workers, overseeing complex safeguarding work, and ensuring that children and families receive safe, effective, and high-quality services.

As a Team Manager, you will provide professional supervision, leadership, and oversight to your team while driving service improvement and ensuring statutory duties are met.

Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and supervision to a team of social workers.

Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring statutory compliance and effective outcomes.

Support the professional development of staff through mentoring, coaching, and reflective supervision.

Ensure assessments, care planning, and reviews are delivered to a high standard and within statutory timescales.

Monitor team performance, practice standards, and contribute to audits, quality assurance, and inspection readiness.

Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police, and voluntary organisations to promote effective multi-agency support.

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording across the team.

Contribute to service planning, policy development, and continuous service improvement.

About You

You are a confident and motivated leader with significant post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are skilled at supervising social workers, managing complex safeguarding cases, and promoting a culture of reflective, child-centred practice.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Extensive post-qualification experience within Children’s Services.

Proven supervisory or management experience in a social work setting.

Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and statutory frameworks.

Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

Ability to mentor, coach, and inspire social workers.
