Hours: 37.5 hours per week

 

Role Overview

 

A Band 6 Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist is required for a 12-week locum placement within the Mainstream Schools Team. This role focuses on delivering specialist speech and language therapy services to children with identified speech, language and communication needs in mainstream school settings.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Provide specialist speech and language therapy services to children in mainstream schools.
  • Undertake specialist assessment, diagnosis and delivery of therapy packages within allocated schools.
  • Train and support school staff and parents to effectively implement therapy advice.
  • Support schools with early identification of speech, language and communication needs.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safeguarding vulnerable children at all times.
  • Support the service to achieve KPIs and maintain target activity levels.
  • Participate in or lead on audits and service development projects.
  • Contribute to service development through feedback and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide buddying, informal support and formal supervision to less experienced staff.

 

Skills & Experience Required

 

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with children in mainstream school settings.
  • Strong skills in assessment, intervention and collaborative working.
  • Excellent communication skills with children, families and education staff.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice.

 

An excellent opportunity for a Paediatric SLT to gain valuable schools-based experience within a supportive NHS service.
