This role focuses on the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with complex needs and multiple co-morbidities within a highly specialised cardiothoracic service.
You will work as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, reporting to the Cardiothoracic Team Lead and the Rehabilitation Divisional Lead, contributing to high-quality, evidence-based respiratory and rehabilitation care.
Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and review specialist respiratory and rehabilitation treatment programmes.
- Coordinate rehabilitation programmes across ICU, HDU, and ward environments, advising staff on patient management.
- Deliver specialist physiotherapy input to patients with complex clinical presentations and multiple co-morbidities.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date electronic and Integrated Care Pathway (ICP) clinical records in line with legal and departmental standards.
- Refer patients to external agencies for ongoing physiotherapy and rehabilitation where required.
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced physiotherapy staff.
- Share specialist knowledge and skills gained through CPD with colleagues and wider healthcare professionals.
- Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary colleagues regarding patient progress and treatment plans.
- Comply with Health & Safety policies and professional standards to ensure safe patient care and a safe working environment.
About You

Requirements

- HCPC registration (essential).
- Proven experience in acute surgical and respiratory physiotherapy.
- Experience working within ICU and/or HDU settings is desirable.
- Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and treatment planning skills.
