Rehabilitation Assistant (Part-Time)

Tripod Partners are recruiting a compassionate and motivated Rehabilitation Assistant for a part-time locum opportunity within Sussex Private. Based in Brighton, you will support an individual with complex cognitive rehabilitation needs, helping them to maximise independence, develop everyday living skills, and achieve their personal goals.

This rewarding role is ideal for someone with experience in neurological rehabilitation, brain injury, psychology, occupational therapy support, or rehabilitation services. You will provide structured support to help improve planning, problem solving, emotional regulation, attention, and flexible thinking, while encouraging independence in daily activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred rehabilitation support to an individual with complex cognitive rehabilitation needs.
• Support the development of planning, organisation, problem-solving, and executive functioning skills.
• Encourage independence with everyday activities, including meal preparation and community participation.
• Assist with implementing rehabilitation programmes developed by the multidisciplinary team.
• Support emotional regulation, attention, flexible thinking, and behavioural management strategies.
• Promote confidence, wellbeing, and independence through structured therapeutic activities.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to the wider rehabilitation team.
• Maintain accurate and professional documentation relating to rehabilitation sessions.
• Work collaboratively with therapists, family members, and other professionals involved in the client’s care.
• Ensure a safe, supportive, and positive rehabilitation environment at all times.

About You

You will have experience supporting individuals with cognitive, neurological, or rehabilitation needs and possess excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills. You will be confident building positive therapeutic relationships and adapting your approach to meet the individual’s changing needs.

Experience within rehabilitation, brain injury services, occupational therapy support, psychology, mental health, or community rehabilitation would be highly beneficial.

Requirements

• Experience working as a Rehabilitation Assistant, Therapy Assistant, Support Worker, or in a similar rehabilitation role.
• Experience supporting individuals with cognitive, neurological, or behavioural rehabilitation needs.
• Excellent communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while following rehabilitation plans.
• Understanding of person-centred rehabilitation principles.
• Reliable, compassionate, and adaptable approach to supporting complex needs.
• Commitment to promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life.
