Job Overview

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Review Team at Oxfordshire County Council. This ongoing locum opportunity will involve completing functional assessments and reviews across Oxfordshire, with a particular focus on bed rail assessments, stand hoist reviews and moving and handling, alongside supporting Reviewing Officers with Occupational Therapy interventions required as part of adult social care annual reviews.

The successful Occupational Therapist will use professional reasoning and core OT skills to help people maximise their independence and achieve their personal outcomes. The role is centred around holistic functional assessment, identifying barriers to independence and finding practical solutions that enable people to live safely and well within their own homes and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake timely and proportionate Occupational Therapy assessments, reviews and professional interventions.
  • Complete bed rail, stand hoist and moving and handling reviews.
  • Support Reviewing Officers with appropriate Occupational Therapy interventions linked to adult social care annual reviews.
  • Carry out holistic Occupational Therapy assessments in line with the Care Act 2014.
  • Use functional analysis and professional reasoning to identify barriers to independence and opportunities for positive change.
  • Work directly with people, families and carers to understand what matters to them in their daily lives.
  • Explore community resources, informal networks and meaningful occupations that support wellbeing and independence.
  • Assess for and provide appropriate equipment, including Assistive Technology, to meet identified needs and reduce risk.
  • Assess and provide advice on moving and handling techniques, including postural management, and recommend appropriate equipment.
  • Support reablement and recovery by focusing on people’s skills, confidence, participation and independence.
  • Use strength-based approaches to ensure appropriate support is in place to meet changing needs.
  • Ensure support plans accurately reflect the person’s needs and desired outcomes, including clear information about how identified needs are being met.
  • Identify and arrange appropriate services that can improve and maintain independence, particularly reablement services and equipment.
  • Contribute to safeguarding enquiries using Making Safeguarding Personal principles.
  • Manage an independent caseload and respond appropriately to urgent situations when required.
  • Act as a trusted assessor, recognising when additional specialist input or referral is required.

About You
