The London Borough of Lambeth is seeking 2 Paediatric Occupational Therapists to join its Children’s Social Services team. This is an opportunity for experienced Occupational Therapists with a strong Children’s Social Services caseload background to provide person-centred Occupational Therapy to children and young people with physical disabilities and complex or multiple disabilities.
The successful Occupational Therapists will use strength-based Occupational Therapy practice to promote independence, health and wellbeing, working as key members of a multidisciplinary team. The role involves assessing individual needs, planning appropriate interventions and making professional judgements within relevant legal and policy frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote strength-based practice and positive change in the lives of children, young people and their families.
- Apply Occupational Therapy methods, models and tools to support independence, health and wellbeing.
- Provide Occupational Therapy services to physically disabled people and those with complex and multiple disabilities, including individuals with mental health conditions.
- Work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team to support positive outcomes.
- Complete comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments of individual needs.
- Work collaboratively with people and families to identify appropriate ways of meeting assessed needs.
- Use the full range of available resources to support independence and appropriate care and support.
- Develop interventions that aim to prevent or delay the development of care and support needs.
- Work to reduce existing care and support needs where appropriate.
- Apply professional judgement within relevant legal and policy frameworks.
- Promote the use of specialist Occupational Therapy knowledge to provide cost-effective and efficient assessment, intervention and support for long-term care needs.
- Work collaboratively with social care colleagues and other professionals to deliver person-centred services.
About You
We are looking for experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapists who have a strong background working with a Children’s Social Services caseload. You will be confident carrying out Occupational Therapy assessments and developing appropriate plans to support independence and wellbeing.
You will have a strength-based and person-centred approach, with the ability to work effectively with children, young people, families and multidisciplinary professionals. You will also be confident making professional judgements within relevant legal and policy frameworks and applying specialist OT knowledge to complex cases.
Requirements
- Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Strong experience managing a Children’s Social Services caseload.
- Experience working with children and young people with physical disabilities and/or complex and multiple disabilities.
- Experience undertaking Occupational Therapy assessments and developing appropriate interventions.
- Understanding of strength-based and person-centred Occupational Therapy practice.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong professional judgement and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work within relevant legal and policy frameworks.
- Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
- Ability to work flexibly with a requirement to attend the office 3 days per week.
