About the Role
Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the adult community service within the City of Wolverhampton Council. This is an ongoing, part-time locum opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist with strong skills in equipment, adaptations and housing-related assessments.
The role will involve working with adults across the Wolverhampton region, assessing for a wide range of equipment and adaptations designed to promote safety, independence and quality of life. The post includes assessing for specialist equipment, including seating, as well as minor and major adaptations.
The successful Occupational Therapist will also make recommendations for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs), with experience recommending major adaptations such as stairlifts, level-access showers, vertical lifts and ramps being particularly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete Occupational Therapy assessments for adults within the community.
- Assess for appropriate equipment and specialist equipment to meet individuals’ functional needs.
- Complete specialist seating assessments where required.
- Assess and recommend minor and major adaptations to support independence and safety at home.
- Make recommendations for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs).
- Provide recommendations for major adaptations, including stairlifts, level-access showers, vertical lifts and ramping.
- Work collaboratively with individuals, families, contractors and relevant professionals to achieve appropriate outcomes.
- Use professional clinical reasoning to identify appropriate equipment and adaptation solutions.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with professional and service requirements.
- Manage and prioritise a community caseload effectively.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist with a strong background in adult community Occupational Therapy and equipment and adaptations work.
You will be confident completing functional assessments and making recommendations for equipment, specialist seating, minor adaptations and major works. Experience with DFG recommendations and major adaptations will be highly advantageous.
You will also be organised, autonomous and able to manage your workload effectively while working within a flexible home and office-based arrangement.
Requirements
- Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working with adults within a community Occupational Therapy setting.
- Strong experience assessing for equipment and adaptations.
- Experience assessing for specialist equipment, including seating.
- Experience with minor and major adaptation assessments.
- Experience making recommendations for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) is advantageous.
- Experience recommending major works such as stairlifts, level-access showers, vertical lifts and ramping is highly advantageous.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a community caseload.
- Full driving licence and access to a car are essential.
- Ability to travel across the Wolverhampton region as required.
Working Arrangements
This is a part-time role offering 21 hours per week, with a flexible working arrangement based between home and the office.
The successful candidate will be expected to attend the office at least once a week, with the remaining work pattern to be agreed.
