The London Borough of Hackney is seeking an experienced Disabled Facilities Grant Officer to join its OT/Housing Service. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) services, supporting adaptations that enable disabled people to live safely and independently within their homes.

Working as part of the OT and Housing service, the successful candidate will contribute to the effective coordination and delivery of Disabled Facilities Grant-related work, working collaboratively with relevant professionals and services. The role is offered on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of two days per week at Hackney Service Centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional input within the OT/Housing Service in relation to Disabled Facilities Grants.
  • Support the assessment and processing of Disabled Facilities Grant applications and associated adaptation requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Housing colleagues and other relevant professionals.
  • Contribute to the coordination and progression of housing adaptations for disabled residents.
  • Support the delivery of appropriate adaptations that promote safety, independence and quality of life.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to DFG cases.
  • Monitor allocated cases and ensure work is progressed in a timely and organised manner.
  • Communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders throughout the adaptation process.
  • Manage an allocated workload effectively and prioritise tasks according to service requirements.

About You

We are looking for a knowledgeable and organised Disabled Facilities Grant Officer who can work effectively within an integrated OT and Housing environment. You will be confident managing a varied workload, coordinating information from different professionals and supporting the progression of DFG-related work.

You will have strong communication and organisational skills, together with an understanding of the importance of appropriate home adaptations in supporting disabled people to remain safe and independent in their own homes.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience working with Disabled Facilities Grants or housing adaptations.
  • Experience within an Occupational Therapy, Housing or Adult Social Care environment.
  • Good understanding of the DFG process and associated adaptation services.
  • Strong organisational and case management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Housing professionals and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage an allocated workload and meet service timescales.
  • Ability to work effectively within a hybrid working arrangement, with a minimum of 2 days per week at the service.
