Occupational Therapist – Adult Social Care Transformation Team

Job Overview

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Social Care Transformation Team at Nottingham City Council. This is an ongoing locum opportunity within Adult Social Care, covering a broad range of service areas across East Midlands.

The Transformation Team undertakes complex reviews and reassessments across Adult Social Care, working with citizens, carers and partner organisations to understand changing needs, strengths and outcomes. The role provides an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with strong social care experience to contribute to complex assessments, proportionate decision-making and wider service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake complex reviews and reassessments across a range of Adult Social Care service areas.
• Work with older people, adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and individuals receiving supported living services.
• Review existing care and support arrangements and assess changing needs, strengths and desired outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with citizens, carers and partner organisations to develop appropriate care and support solutions.
• Apply the principles of the Care Act 2014 to assessment, review and decision-making.
• Manage complex situations involving safeguarding concerns, moving and handling, risk management and high-cost care packages.
• Consider the appropriate use of assistive technology and equipment provision as part of assessment and support planning.
• Work effectively in situations where there may be differing views between professionals, families and carers.
• Apply strengths-based and outcome-focused approaches to assessment and care planning.
• Contribute to Adult Social Care transformation and service improvement initiatives.
• Support the development of new ways of working and make effective use of digital tools, including Microsoft Copilot and Beam Notes, to support efficient, high-quality practice.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with strong Adult Social Care experience and a sound understanding of complex assessment and review. You will be confident working with citizens with a wide range of needs and able to manage complex situations involving risk, safeguarding, equipment, moving and handling and care provision.

You will have a strong understanding of Care Act 2014 principles, strengths-based practice and outcome-focused assessment. The ability to work collaboratively with citizens, carers, families and professionals is essential, particularly where there are differing views or complex risks to consider.

This role would suit an Occupational Therapist who is comfortable working autonomously, managing a varied caseload and contributing to service transformation and improvement alongside frontline Adult Social Care practice.

Requirements

• Qualified and registered Occupational Therapist.
• Relevant experience within Adult Social Care.
• Experience undertaking complex assessments, reviews and reassessments.
• Working knowledge of the Care Act 2014.
• Strong understanding of strengths-based practice and outcome-focused assessment.
• Experience working with complex needs and risk management.
• Knowledge and experience relating to moving and handling, equipment provision and/or assistive technology would be beneficial.
• Experience working collaboratively with citizens, carers, families and partner organisations.
• Ability to manage situations involving safeguarding concerns and differing professional or family views.
• Ability to contribute to service development, transformation and new ways of working.
• Confidence using digital tools to support efficient and high-quality practice.
• Willingness to attend the office 2 days per week.
