Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Complex Occupational Therapy Service at Hammersmith and Fulham Council. This locum opportunity is suited to an Occupational Therapist with strong experience in major adaptations and the ability to manage complex clinical cases involving people with multiple pathologies and a range of psychological, neurological, emotional, behavioural, social and age-related needs.

Working as part of the Complex Occupational Therapy Team, you will provide specialist assessment, advice and intervention planning for residents with highly complex needs. The role includes developing bespoke solutions, including non-standard major adaptations, tailor-made specialist equipment and highly specialist seating.

This is a hybrid role, with an expectation to work within the borough at least two days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as a member of the Complex Occupational Therapy Service, managing a clinical caseload of people with complex multiple pathologies.
• Assess and advise residents on all aspects of daily living, applying relevant legislation, professional knowledge and Occupational Therapy procedures.
• Use professional initiative and experience to develop intervention plans for highly complex cases.
• Assess and make recommendations for non-standard major adaptations to meet individual needs.
• Assess and recommend tailor-made specialist equipment where required.
• Prescribe highly specialist seating in accordance with individual clinical and functional requirements.
• Provide specialist Occupational Therapy input for people experiencing psychological, neurological, emotional, behavioural, social or age-related conditions.
• Contribute to the development of the Complex Occupational Therapy Team and support ongoing service development.
• Provide supervision and support to unqualified staff as required.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to develop appropriate solutions for residents with complex needs.

About You

We are looking for a confident and experienced Occupational Therapist who can apply advanced professional knowledge and clinical reasoning to complex cases. You will have proven experience of major adaptations and be comfortable developing bespoke interventions for people with highly complex needs.

You will demonstrate initiative, sound professional judgement and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to consider non-standard major adaptations, specialist equipment and highly specialist seating. You will also be confident contributing to team development and supporting unqualified staff through supervision and professional guidance.

Requirements

• Qualified Occupational Therapist with current professional registration.
• Experience working within a complex Occupational Therapy or social care service.
• Experience working with people with complex multiple pathologies.
• Major adaptations experience is essential.
• Experience assessing and advising on daily living needs.
• Ability to develop intervention plans for highly complex cases.
• Experience or knowledge of non-standard major adaptations.
• Experience with specialist equipment and highly specialist seating is highly relevant to the role.
• Strong clinical reasoning, professional judgement and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to provide supervision and support to unqualified staff as required.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
