Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust at Honor Oak Medical Practice, within South East London NHS. This locum opportunity is for an immediate start and will initially run for 8 weeks, supporting the Community Falls Service.
The successful Occupational Therapist will work with older adults within the community, including individuals who have experienced falls. You will use your Occupational Therapy expertise to assess functional needs, prescribe appropriate equipment and minor adaptations, and support individuals to remain as safe and independent as possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention within the Community Falls Service.
- Work with older adults and individuals who have experienced falls within a community setting.
- Undertake functional assessments to identify risks, occupational needs and opportunities to support independence.
- Assess and prescribe appropriate equipment and minor adaptations based on individual needs.
- Provide practical Occupational Therapy recommendations to support safety and reduce risks associated with falls.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and relevant professionals to support coordinated community-based care.
- Travel across the community to undertake assessments and interventions as required.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional and service requirements.
About You
We are looking for a confident Band 6 Occupational Therapist with previous community experience working with older adults. You will need to have experience working with elderly fallers and be comfortable undertaking assessments within people’s community environments.
Experience in equipment and minor adaptations assessment and prescription is essential. You should also be able to travel around the community and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary service.
Requirements
- Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Previous Band 6 Occupational Therapy experience.
- Previous community experience working with older adults.
- Previous experience working with elderly fallers.
- Experience assessing and prescribing equipment and minor adaptations.
- Ability to undertake community-based assessments and interventions.
- Ability to travel around the community.
- Strong communication, assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
