Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join East Sussex County Council at Firwood House, Eastbourne, within Sussex Social Services. This is an ongoing locum opportunity supporting rehabilitation and community-based Occupational Therapy.

The successful Occupational Therapist will provide professional assessments of individuals’ needs across client groups and deliver appropriate services within available resources. The role will also involve advising on ways in which environments can be made more accessible to people with disabilities, supporting effective and person-centred outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement departmental policies in the provision of Occupational Therapy services to individuals or groups across relevant client groups.
• Carry out professional assessments of individuals’ needs and determine appropriate services and interventions.
• Provide appropriate Occupational Therapy services within available resources.
• Provide professional advice on ways in which the environment can be made more accessible to people with disabilities.
• Apply Occupational Therapy knowledge to identify practical approaches that support individuals’ functional needs.
• Work collaboratively with relevant colleagues and professionals to support effective rehabilitation and community-based service delivery.
• Maintain high standards of professional practice in accordance with departmental and professional requirements.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with a background in rehabilitation and/or community-based Occupational Therapy. You should have strong professional assessment skills and the ability to identify appropriate services based on individual needs and available resources.

You will also need to understand the importance of environmental accessibility and be confident providing advice on ways to make environments more suitable for people living with disabilities.

Requirements

• Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Experience working within rehabilitation and/or community Occupational Therapy services.
• Experience undertaking professional assessments of individual needs.
• Understanding of environmental accessibility and disability-related needs.
• Strong assessment, communication and clinical reasoning skills.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals, groups and professional colleagues.
