Bolton Council is seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join its Independent Living Service on a 3-month locum contract.
The Independent Living Service comprises a multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Disability Officers and Community Assessment Officers, alongside specialist Sensory and Telecare Teams.
The successful candidate will undertake assessments and reviews of need under the Care Act 2014, providing specialist advice and practical support to help people maximise their independence, maintain wellbeing and remain safely within the community.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake comprehensive assessments and reviews of need in line with the Care Act 2014.

Provide specialist Occupational Therapy advice on equipment, adaptations and techniques to promote independence and safety.

Identify appropriate solutions to support individuals to achieve their desired outcomes and maintain their independence.

Provide practical support and intervention where required.

Signpost and connect individuals and carers with appropriate universal, community and voluntary services.

Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Independent Living Service and provide support to other areas of the service as required.

Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative ways of working across health and social care.

Promote wellbeing, independence and positive outcomes for service users and carers.

Build and maintain effective professional relationships with individuals, carers, colleagues and partner agencies.

Participate effectively in interdisciplinary team working.
Essential Skills & Experience

Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.

Current HCPC registration.

Significant experience working as an Occupational Therapist within a social care, community or independent living setting.

Strong knowledge and practical application of the Care Act 2014.

Experience undertaking assessments and reviews of care and support needs.

Knowledge of equipment, adaptations and enabling techniques.

Ability to take a person-centred and strengths-based approach to assessment and intervention.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
-
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary team.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
