Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Band 6 Neuro Rehabilitation Occupational Therapist to join its Neuro Rehabilitation Service on an ongoing locum basis.

The successful candidate will work within the Dorking inpatient Neuro Rehabilitation service, providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment to patients requiring neurorehabilitation.

Applicants must have previous Stroke and/or Neuro Rehabilitation experience and be confident managing patients with complex neurological needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for patients requiring neurorehabilitation.

  • Manage and prioritise your own clinical caseload while ensuring ongoing tasks are completed effectively.

  • Use expert clinical reasoning to assess patients with complex needs and develop evidence-based, individualised treatment and care plans.

  • Deliver specialist interventions, including adaptive techniques and therapeutic approaches appropriate to individual patient needs.

  • Assess for and recommend appropriate equipment and adaptations to maximise independence and safety.

  • Coordinate services and work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to support effective patient outcomes.

  • Allocate appropriate tasks and provide guidance to Technical Instructors.

  • Monitor, evaluate and adapt treatment plans in response to patients’ progress and changing needs.

  • Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and professional practice.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.

  • Current HCPC registration.

  • Previous experience working at Band 6 level or equivalent.

  • Essential experience within Stroke and/or Neuro Rehabilitation.

  • Experience assessing and treating patients with complex neurological needs.

  • Strong clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice skills.

  • Experience managing an independent caseload within an inpatient or rehabilitation setting.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills.
