Occupational Therapist – Band 6

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity with Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Working within the South East London NHS, you will provide specialist Occupational Therapy input within an acute hospital environment, with a particular focus on acute neurology.

The successful candidate must have strong acute neurology experience, including neurological conditions outside of stroke, together with previous acute NHS experience and at least two years of post-qualifying experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention within an acute hospital setting.
  • Manage patients presenting with acute neurological conditions, including neurological presentations beyond stroke.
  • Undertake comprehensive functional and occupational assessments to identify patients’ needs.
  • Develop and deliver appropriate Occupational Therapy interventions based on clinical presentation and individual goals.
  • Use specialist clinical reasoning to support assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to provide integrated, patient-centred care.
  • Support patients to maximise their function and independence during their acute hospital admission.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and Trust requirements.
  • Manage clinical workload effectively and prioritise patients according to clinical need.

About You

You will be an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist with a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualifying experience and proven experience working within an acute NHS environment.

Acute neurology experience is essential, and this must include experience with neurological conditions outside of stroke. You will be confident working within a busy acute hospital environment and contributing effectively to multidisciplinary patient care.

Requirements

  • Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Minimum 2 years’ post-qualifying Occupational Therapy experience.
  • Acute NHS experience is essential.
  • Acute neurology experience is essential.
  • Experience managing neurological conditions beyond stroke.
  • Strong clinical assessment and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within an acute multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and documentation skills.
