Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity with Kensington and Chelsea Council. Working within South West London Social Services, you will support adults with complex functional needs by delivering specialist Occupational Therapy assessments, recommending major adaptations, and promoting safe, independent living through person-centred interventions.
This hybrid role is ideal for an Occupational Therapist with expertise in major adaptations, complex moving and handling, and the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) process. You will work collaboratively with service users, carers, housing professionals, and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality assessments and practical solutions that maximise independence and improve quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for adults with complex physical disabilities and long-term conditions.
- Assess functional abilities and identify solutions that maximise independence and minimise risk.
- Complete complex moving and handling assessments and recommend safe systems of work for service users and carers.
- Assess for and recommend major home adaptations to improve accessibility and support independent living.
- Manage Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) assessments and prepare detailed recommendations and specifications for adaptation works.
- Prescribe appropriate equipment and assistive technology to support daily living and reduce reliance on ongoing care.
- Work closely with housing teams, surveyors, contractors, and partner agencies to facilitate adaptation projects.
- Provide advice and guidance to service users, carers, and professionals regarding equipment, adaptations, and safe practice.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and case records in accordance with HCPC standards and local authority policies.
- Manage an autonomous caseload while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
About You
You will be a HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with significant experience working within Adult Social Care or community Occupational Therapy services. You will have specialist knowledge of major adaptations, moving and handling, and the Disabled Facilities Grant process.
You will be confident managing complex cases independently while building effective relationships with service users, carers, housing professionals, and multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve positive, person-centred outcomes.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working within Adult Social Care or community Occupational Therapy services.
- Extensive experience assessing for major home adaptations.
- Strong knowledge of the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) process.
- Experience undertaking complex moving and handling assessments.
- Knowledge of specialist equipment provision and environmental adaptations.
- Excellent assessment, report writing, communication, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
- Ability to manage an autonomous caseload effectively.
