Occupational Therapist (4 Roles)

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting four experienced Occupational Therapists for exciting locum opportunities within Hertfordshire Social Services. These roles are based within the Occupational Therapy Service and Housing Solutions Team, supporting adults to remain independent through specialist housing assessments, major adaptations, and person-centred interventions.

Working as part of the Connected Lives Gateway Service, you will help prevent, reduce, and delay the need for ongoing Adult Social Care by completing complex functional assessments and recommending practical housing solutions that enable people to live safely and independently within their own homes. You will work collaboratively with internal Adult Care Services teams and external housing partners across Hertfordshire to deliver positive outcomes for residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake complex Occupational Therapy assessments within community settings to identify housing and functional needs.
  • Complete specialist housing needs assessments to support recommendations for major housing adaptations.
  • Assess functional ability, mobility, daily living activities, and environmental barriers affecting independence.
  • Recommend major and minor adaptations, specialist equipment, and other practical solutions to improve accessibility and safety.
  • Promote a strengths-based, person-centred approach that maximises independence, health, and wellbeing.
  • Apply knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and relevant housing legislation when completing assessments and recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with Hertfordshire Home Improvement Agency, District and Borough Councils, Housing Associations, and Adult Care Services teams.
  • Support individuals to achieve their desired outcomes by identifying solutions that prevent, reduce, or delay the need for ongoing care services.
  • Manage an independent community caseload while maintaining high standards of professional practice.
  • Maintain accurate assessment records, reports, recommendations, and case documentation in accordance with HCPC and local authority standards.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of integrated Occupational Therapy and Housing Solutions services.

About You

You will be a HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with experience working within Adult Social Care and community-based Occupational Therapy services. You will have strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills, together with experience recommending equipment, minor works, and major housing adaptations that enable adults to live safely and independently.

You will be confident working autonomously while also being an effective team player, capable of building strong working relationships with colleagues, housing partners, and multidisciplinary professionals.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience working within Adult Social Care or community Occupational Therapy services.
  • Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and relevant Adult Social Care legislation.
  • Experience completing functional assessments and recommending equipment, minor adaptations, and major housing adaptations.
  • Strong understanding of housing accessibility and independent living solutions.
  • Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, report writing, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage a community caseload, and make sound professional decisions.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and housing partners.
