Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within Kent Social Services. Working across the community with the London Borough of Bromley, you will join the Children’s Adaptations service, providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to support children and young people with disabilities to achieve greater independence and safely access their home environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a paediatric Occupational Therapist who is passionate about delivering family-centred, evidence-based interventions. You will assess children with a range of physical and developmental needs, recommending specialist equipment and home adaptations that enhance safety, participation, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for children and young people within community settings and their home environments.
- Assess functional abilities, mobility, daily living skills, and environmental barriers affecting independence.
- Recommend appropriate specialist equipment, seating, and minor or major home adaptations to meet assessed needs.
- Prepare detailed reports, recommendations, and specifications to support adaptation and equipment provision.
- Work closely with children, families, carers, schools, housing services, and multidisciplinary professionals to deliver coordinated care.
- Provide specialist advice on accessibility, environmental adaptations, and equipment solutions.
- Support families throughout the assessment, recommendation, and implementation process.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in accordance with HCPC and local authority standards.
- Manage an independent community caseload while ensuring timely, high-quality service delivery.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Children’s Occupational Therapy and Adaptations service.
About You
You will be a HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with experience working in Paediatric Occupational Therapy. You will have a strong understanding of children’s functional development, specialist equipment provision, and housing adaptations, together with the ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
You will be committed to delivering child and family-centred interventions that promote independence, safety, participation, and positive outcomes for children and young people.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Essential experience working within Paediatric Occupational Therapy.
- Experience completing assessments for children requiring specialist equipment and home adaptations.
- Knowledge of environmental adaptations, accessibility, and equipment provision.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
- Ability to manage an independent community caseload.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, child and family-centred care.
