Senior Occupational Therapist

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within East London Social Services. Working with the London Borough of Waltham Forest, you will join the Community Occupational Therapy Team, supporting the service to reduce waiting lists for Occupational Therapy assessments while promoting independence and improving outcomes for local residents.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist with extensive Adult Social Care experience who is passionate about delivering strengths-based, person-centred interventions. You will assess individuals within their own homes, identifying practical solutions, equipment, and adaptations that maximise independence, reduce reliance on care packages, and improve quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for adults within their own homes.
  • Manage a complex community caseload, prioritising assessments to help reduce service waiting lists.
  • Deliver strengths-based, person-centred interventions that promote independence and wellbeing.
  • Assess functional abilities, mobility, activities of daily living, and environmental needs.
  • Recommend and arrange appropriate equipment, assistive technology, and minor or major adaptations.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce or prevent the need for ongoing care packages through effective Occupational Therapy interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with Social Workers, health professionals, carers, housing providers, and other partner agencies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, assessment reports, and recommendations in accordance with HCPC and local authority standards.
  • Contribute to service improvement by supporting the collection of outcomes data to demonstrate the impact of Occupational Therapy interventions.
  • Promote high standards of professional practice and person-centred care throughout service delivery.

About You

You will be an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience and a strong background within Adult Social Care. You will have extensive experience undertaking community-based assessments within service users’ homes and delivering interventions that maximise independence and reduce long-term care needs.

You will possess excellent assessment, communication, report writing, and clinical reasoning skills, together with the ability to work independently and manage a busy community caseload.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Minimum of three years’ post-qualification Occupational Therapy experience.
  • Essential experience working within an Adult Social Care team (hospital-only experience is not sufficient).
  • Experience completing Occupational Therapy assessments within service users’ homes.
  • Strong knowledge of functional assessment, equipment provision, adaptations, and promoting independence.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
  • Ability to manage a complex community caseload and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, strengths-based and person-centred care.
