Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist for a locum opportunity within Sussex NHS. Working across sites in Brighton and Horsham with Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, this role is based within the Wheelchair Therapy Service, providing specialist assessment and intervention to individuals with complex mobility and seating needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Physiotherapist with an interest in wheelchair and postural management, rehabilitation, and long-term mobility solutions. You will work as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team, delivering person-centred assessments and recommendations to improve mobility, independence, comfort, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist Physiotherapy assessment for individuals requiring wheelchair and seating interventions.
• Assess mobility, posture, functional ability, and long-term seating requirements.
• Recommend appropriate wheelchairs, seating systems, pressure management solutions, and associated equipment.
• Develop personalised management plans to maximise independence, comfort, and participation in daily activities.
• Monitor and review patient progress, adapting intervention plans where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Engineers, Wheelchair Technicians, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Provide education, advice, and support to patients, carers, families, and healthcare professionals regarding wheelchair use and postural management.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.
• Contribute to delivering a high-quality specialist wheelchair therapy service across multiple sites.
• Support service improvement initiatives and evidence-based clinical practice.

About You

You will be an HCPC-registered Physiotherapist with experience in rehabilitation, community physiotherapy, neurological rehabilitation, wheelchair services, or complex seating. You will have excellent assessment and clinical reasoning skills and be committed to delivering person-centred care that enhances independence and mobility.

You will be confident working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while managing a varied specialist caseload.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Relevant UK NHS Physiotherapy experience.
• Experience in rehabilitation, community physiotherapy, wheelchair services, neurological rehabilitation, or complex seating is desirable.
• Strong assessment, problem-solving, and clinical reasoning skills.
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team-working abilities.
• Ability to manage an independent specialist caseload.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
