This rewarding role involves supporting an individual with significant cognitive rehabilitation needs following injury or illness. While the client has minimal physical support requirements, they require structured assistance with planning, problem-solving, emotional regulation, attention, and developing independence in everyday activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in neurorehabilitation, brain injury, mental health, or cognitive rehabilitation who is passionate about helping people maximise their independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing daily routines, planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide encouragement and guidance to help the client achieve rehabilitation goals.
  • Support emotional regulation, attention, flexible thinking, and behavioural management strategies.
  • Assist the client during community activities, appointments, leisure activities, and independent living tasks.
  • Promote independence while providing appropriate supervision during activities such as meal preparation and community access.
  • Maintain accurate records of rehabilitation progress and communicate observations with the wider clinical team.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, family members, and other professionals to deliver consistent rehabilitation programmes.
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and person-centred rehabilitation environment at all times.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic and caring Rehabilitation Assistant with experience supporting individuals with cognitive, neurological, or behavioural rehabilitation needs. You will be patient, proactive, and confident encouraging independence while recognising when additional support is required.

Experience working within neurorehabilitation, brain injury services, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, mental health, or community rehabilitation would be highly advantageous.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Rehabilitation Assistant, Therapy Assistant, Support Worker, or similar role.

  • Ability to work independently while following rehabilitation programmes developed by therapists.
  • A patient, empathetic, and person-centred approach.
  • Strong organisational and observational skills.
  • Experience within neurorehabilitation or acquired brain injury services is desirable.
