Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting two experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapists for long-term locum opportunities within North West NHS. Based with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, these roles offer the opportunity to work within either the Stroke Unit or the Rehabilitation Unit, delivering high-quality, evidence-based rehabilitation to patients with complex physical and neurological conditions.
These are excellent opportunities for Occupational Therapists with experience in stroke rehabilitation, inpatient rehabilitation, or community services. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, managing your own specialist caseload while contributing to service development, mentoring junior colleagues, and supporting patients to achieve the highest possible level of independence.
Available Roles
- Role 1 – Stroke Unit: Deliver specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and rehabilitation for patients recovering from stroke, supporting functional recovery, discharge planning, and long-term independence.
- Role 2 – Rehabilitation Unit: Provide specialist rehabilitation for patients with a range of complex physical conditions, promoting recovery, safe discharge, and improved functional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a specialist Occupational Therapy caseload independently, delivering high-quality, evidence-based interventions.
- Complete comprehensive functional, cognitive, and rehabilitation assessments using best practice approaches.
- Develop personalised treatment plans that maximise independence and promote successful rehabilitation outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with Physiotherapists, medical staff, nursing teams, and other multidisciplinary professionals to deliver coordinated patient-centred care.
- Lead and coordinate effective discharge planning, ensuring safe transitions of care.
- Provide specialist advice to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior Occupational Therapists, apprentices, students, and therapy support staff.
- Participate in clinical audit, research, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of rehabilitation services through evidence-based practice.
About You
You will be an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with significant experience in stroke rehabilitation, inpatient rehabilitation, or community rehabilitation services. You will be confident managing a complex caseload independently while working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to achieve excellent patient outcomes.
You will have excellent clinical reasoning, communication, leadership, and organisational skills, together with a commitment to evidence-based practice, education, and continuous service improvement.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Essential experience in stroke rehabilitation and/or inpatient rehabilitation.
- Experience working within community or inpatient rehabilitation services.
- Strong rehabilitation, assessment, and discharge planning skills.
- Experience supervising Occupational Therapy students, apprentices, or junior staff.
- Excellent multidisciplinary team-working and communication skills.
- Knowledge of HIVE and Community Equipment Services is desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, audit, research, and service improvement.
