  • Assess functional ability, mobility, manual handling requirements, and environmental factors to determine the most appropriate level of support.
  • Identify opportunities to maximise independence through Occupational Therapy interventions, equipment, and minor or major adaptations.
  • Provide specialist moving and handling assessments and recommendations to promote safe care delivery.
  • Recommend changes to care packages where appropriate, ensuring interventions remain person-centred, proportionate, and outcome-focused.
  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, care providers, social workers, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Apply relevant legislation, safeguarding principles, and best practice throughout the assessment and review process.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and legally compliant case records and assessment reports.
  • Contribute to service improvement by promoting effective Occupational Therapy practice and supporting best value care delivery.

About You

You will be an experienced HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with a strong background in Adult Social Care and complex moving and handling assessments. You will be confident working independently, making evidence-based clinical decisions, and reviewing care packages to ensure they remain safe, effective, and focused on promoting independence.

You will possess excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills, together with the ability to build positive working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and external providers.
