Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within Surrey NHS. Based at Frimley Park Hospital, part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, this role is within the Older People and Integrated Care service.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong acute hospital background to support older adults through assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes while ensuring safe and timely discharges from hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake specialist Occupational Therapy assessments for older adults within an acute hospital setting.
• Manage a varied caseload, delivering person-centred rehabilitation programmes to maximise independence.
• Complete functional, cognitive, and environmental assessments to support clinical decision-making.
• Lead and contribute to safe, effective discharge planning in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Assess moving and handling needs and recommend appropriate equipment and interventions.
• Provide rehabilitation to patients with complex physical and functional needs.
• Work closely with medical, nursing, therapy, and social care teams to coordinate patient care.
• Provide advice and education to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.
• Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality Older People and Integrated Care service.

About You

You will be an experienced HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with a strong background in acute hospital services, rehabilitation, and discharge planning. You will be confident managing complex caseloads, working autonomously, and collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

You will possess excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills, together with a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Relevant UK NHS hospital experience as an Occupational Therapist.
• Experience working with older adults in an acute hospital setting.
• Strong rehabilitation and discharge planning experience.
• Knowledge and experience of manual handling assessment and intervention.
• Excellent clinical reasoning, assessment, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently within a busy acute environment.
