Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapy Assistant for a locum opportunity within East London Social Services. Based with Newham Council, this role sits within the Reablement Service, supporting adults to regain independence and confidence following illness, injury, or hospital discharge.

Working alongside Occupational Therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of person-centred reablement interventions that enable individuals to maximise their independence and remain safely within their own homes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapy Assistant with a passion for promoting recovery and improving outcomes within Adult Social Care.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Occupational Therapists in delivering reablement interventions to adults within the community.
• Assist with functional assessments and monitor individuals’ progress towards agreed goals.
• Support service users to regain confidence and independence in activities of daily living.
• Provide practical guidance on the safe use of equipment and assistive technology.
• Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Reablement Workers, Social Workers, and other health and social care professionals.
• Promote strengths-based and person-centred approaches to maximise independence.
• Maintain accurate and timely case records and documentation.
• Report changes in service users’ needs or risks to the appropriate professionals.
• Support safe hospital discharge and community-based rehabilitation where required.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant with experience supporting adults within a community, rehabilitation, or reablement setting. You will be committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and promoting independence through strengths-based practice.

You will be organised, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while supporting individuals to achieve their personal goals.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, Therapy Assistant, or within a Reablement Service.
• Experience supporting adults within community health or Adult Social Care.
• Knowledge of reablement principles and person-centred practice.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Commitment to promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing.
