Occupational Therapy Assistant

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapy Assistant for a locum opportunity with Hammersmith and Fulham Council. Working within West London Social Services, you will support the Occupational Therapy Service by managing duty responsibilities, triaging referrals, and assisting with community visits to ensure timely and effective service delivery.

The primary focus of this role will be reducing the backlog of duty referrals through efficient triage, making it ideal for an Occupational Therapy Assistant with previous experience working within an Adult Social Care duty function. You will also undertake community visits as required, working alongside Occupational Therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to support adults in achieving greater independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Occupational Therapy Service by managing duty responsibilities and triaging incoming referrals.
  • Review referrals promptly and prioritise cases according to risk, urgency, and service requirements.
  • Assist in reducing the backlog of duty cases while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
  • Undertake community visits to support Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions as required.
  • Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and multidisciplinary colleagues to coordinate appropriate support.
  • Gather relevant information to support assessments and facilitate timely interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using electronic recording systems.
  • Provide advice, information, and signposting to service users, carers, and partner agencies where appropriate.
  • Support the delivery of person-centred services that promote independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.
  • Contribute to the efficient day-to-day operation of the Occupational Therapy Service.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapy Assistant with previous experience working within Adult Social Care or a community Occupational Therapy service. You will have excellent organisational skills, be confident managing duty responsibilities, and have experience triaging referrals in a busy environment.

You will be a proactive team player with strong communication skills, capable of working independently while supporting Occupational Therapists and delivering high-quality services to adults within the community.

Requirements

  • Experience working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant within Adult Social Care or community services.
  • Previous experience managing duty responsibilities and triaging referrals is essential.
  • Experience supporting Occupational Therapy assessments and community-based interventions.
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation, and case management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate electronic records and manage a varied workload.
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to delivering person-centred services that promote independence and wellbeing.
