Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapy Assistant for a locum opportunity within West London Social Services. Based with Hammersmith and Fulham Council, this role will provide essential support to the Occupational Therapy Service, helping to manage a backlog of referrals and ensuring timely interventions for adults requiring Occupational Therapy support.

Initially, the primary focus will be supporting the duty function by triaging incoming referrals and prioritising cases appropriately. As service demands require, you will also undertake community visits to support Occupational Therapists with assessments and follow-up work. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapy Assistant with strong duty experience and excellent organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Occupational Therapy duty service by triaging incoming referrals and prioritising cases appropriately.
• Assist in reducing the backlog of Occupational Therapy referrals through timely case management.
• Undertake community visits to support Occupational Therapy assessments and follow-up interventions when required.
• Gather relevant information to support clinical decision-making and service planning.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records using the organisation’s electronic recording systems.
• Communicate effectively with service users, carers, Occupational Therapists, and multidisciplinary professionals.
• Provide information and guidance to service users regarding available services and support where appropriate.
• Support the delivery of person-centred, strengths-based Occupational Therapy services.
• Work flexibly to meet changing service priorities and operational demands.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapy Assistant with previous experience working within Adult Social Care or a community Occupational Therapy service. You will be highly organised, able to prioritise competing demands, and confident supporting a busy duty function.

You will possess excellent communication and administrative skills, with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant or in a similar Adult Social Care role.
• Experience supporting an Occupational Therapy duty service or triaging referrals is essential.
• Ability to prioritise a high volume of referrals effectively.
• Experience undertaking community visits is desirable.
• Strong organisational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to delivering person-centred, strengths-based support.
• Knowledge of Adult Social Care processes and Occupational Therapy services is desirable.
